The intro is from one of my favorite Nas songs and it sets the tone of the track. I really don’t remember much as a kid in 1989 besides watching He-Man cartoons, playing around with Transformers toys and stuff so it’s just a fusion of good times and memories.
I think this beat was remade and revamped more times than any of the other beats on the EP. The initial version was actually longer too but I had to trim it down to have maximum effect for the listeners. Like GZA said, half short, twice strong.
There are 3 nice beat switch-ups on this cut to signify dynamism in youth as we all go through phases as time progresses.
