UK-based Nigerian emcee Phlow breaks her hiatus by releasing her first single “All” since 2019’s Marmalade EP. Since then she has been featured by artists like Show Dem Camp, Alpha Ojini, and recently had a verse on the latest compilation by France-based magazine Hip-hop Breathe.
“All” sees her teaming up with longtime collaborator Teck-Zilla who crafts her a solemn backdrop made up of melancholic keys, sparsely arranged downtempo drums with thick 808-kicks that reverberate through the ear drums. Here, she pens down an open letter for fans, casual listeners and anyone willing to lend an ear as she takes us through a roller coaster of emotions that come with being an independent artist stuck between artistic freedom and the vampiric music industry where talent hardly gets rewarded.
Scarred by her experiences but relentless, Phlow expresses her desire to cut through the usual red tape and give listeners a glimpse into what makes her tick.

The verses are poetic and heartfelt with lines like “” So I will start by saying good music’s good music/ What streams from this little fountain is my own o own o” that see her asserting her status in the game. This is accentuated on the loose chorus where she reinstates exactly what she is aiming to achieve.
